Can you assist?
Will you need help?
Starting and equipping a disaster response team is not free. All monetary donations will be put to use in the purchase of needed equipment, training of volunteers/leaders, and getting information to the public to help them prepare for emergencies to reduce their need on the emergency system. Donations can be sent to the CART treasurer, Bonnie Morrison.
Donations of services that we need are gratefully accepted- printing of flyers and brochures, help with distribution of the flyers and brochures (especially at public events and fairs), information sharing - both printed and word of mouth (letting people know about us, how they can help, links to our web site, etc.), information about training possibilities team members could attend and how to register, etc.
Donation of items: Prior to delivery of goods, please be sure the items are needed by the team and that storage space is available. It is possible that an MOU (see below) would be a better way to offer tangible items. Some items that we will readily accept include: rubber and smooth leather gloves, live animal traps, horse halters/lead ropes, first aid kits, Tyvek suits, catch poles/nets and most of the items on the "Needed Supplies" page.
If you are in charge of a business, organization or club or an individual with equipment we might need, please consider signing an MOU. The MOU is similar to a written IOU and states exactly what you or your group may be able to provide when a disaster strikes. This could include x number of crates, temporary fencing, light stands, generators, cases or skids of bottled water, horse trailers, portable stalls, blankets, food bowls, pet food or animal feed/hay, space to set up a shelter or house animals, or any number of other items that would be needed at a moments notice. Knowing where these items are located will speed the set-up portion of the response and get help to those that need it much faster. You may specify if the item(s) need to be returned to you upon completion of the disaster. Please be sure your contact information is securely attached to the item(s) you would like returned.
If your organization or agency will be responding to emergencies and can help us in some way please let us know. This could include shelters that can offer space for displaced animals, animal control officers that can help with animal rescue and capture (and knowledge of where the animals are in the county), veterinarians that can provide free services on site or offer service to animals brought to them by CART team members, etc.
Also let us know if we can help you and if we can benefit from learning about how you plan to respond. We will be happy to explain how we plan to respond if you would like to know. This is outlined in very general terms on the "Disaster Overview" page.
If you have multiple animals in your care, please let the Team Captain in your area know your name, address, how many animals and what type of animals you have. If you choose, you may also provide contact information such as a phone number. If the phone lines are still operational, we may be able to use this to check on you and verify if you need any help after an incident occurs. This information will allow us to expedite volunteers to your location if you need help in the case of an evacuation. This is the ONLY thing this information will be used for! This can include individuals that have multiple animals/pets and that cannot transport them by themselves, shelters, farms, research facilities, sanctuaries, etc. Help us, help you! Don't assume that we know where you are or that you might need help getting the animals evacuated. The phone lines may not be operational for you to reach us once the disaster strikes.
